Hobbyking P51 EPP Build
- AUW = 330g (with 45A ESC, 1000mAh battery)
- Power test: 110W, 10.0V, 11.0A after 5 seconds at full power on storage-charged 1000mAh battery (11.44V resting voltage) - using 45A ESC, to be substituted with new lighter 18A ESC.
Tips
- There isn't enough GF rod to do full length fuselage reinforcement on both sides. Instead, cut a rod into two and reinforce from motor back to as far as it reaches. The tail pushrod tubes help to reinforce the back half of the fuselage (if it needs it).
- Use Z-bends rather than the wire clamps provided - the clamps create serious bending of the wire as servo rotates and the aileron servo couldn't move enough.
- Weaken the hinges even more before building - fold over backwards overnight, then cut slits so that half of the total hinge length remains to halve the hinge force, or sand back of hinge to thin out foam hinge.
- Be careful to keep the pushrod tube installations as straight as possible (or slow curves) to reduce friction (suggest installing with pushrod wire in tube to help keep straight).
- Melt cavities for servos etc rather than cut.
- Create a large cavity for receiver to accommodate surplus servo leads.
