General Business: [a] RE Proposal to concrete the pits - Les spoke to David Brown from Logan City Council, who saw no problems with concreting pits, and they have no current plans to move our site. Bitumen and security gate is going in. Debate occurred as to the costs and advantages of extending/concreting/re-orienting the pits, versus keeping what little money we have, and applying for grants to put in more formal structures. In any case, we need to discuss this one on site. [b] Brian’s ECC Update: Racing day cancelled. Combat went well - 4 rounds of slow and 5 rounds of fast. 13 entries in each class, 60 bouts in total. Good weekend, catering idea worked well. Sec to write to Lyn at 2-24 Appaloosa Crt Munruben 4125 to thank for her for sandwiches. Thanks to everyone who helped. [c] thanks to BB for running ECC. [d] Discussions on Ian Garton Memorial and “Presidents Trophy”. Les is preparing Presidents Trophy for the Best and Fairest. Ian Garton Memorial brainstorming required, Les volunteered to make trophy for this one - more ideas next meeting - perhaps something in the field of racing? [e] Two stopwatches are stuffed - need new ones. We also need half a dozen rubbers for starter motors. BB proposed, seconded Les. [f] We need to straighten back posts of toilets and cement back in place. So... Sunday 4th November mini working-bee. 4 bags of concrete quickset post hole mix 20 minute stuff. [g] Sec to apply to Robin Klau for QLD State Champs 08. We propose the Long Weekend in May. [h] Tshirts - several designs by PK looked at. Some members want costs kept very low [$25]. All current quotes show a decent polo with minimal embroidery/printing to come to at least $40. Peter W and Les want Pockets. More designs to come, and some quotes for consideration. [i] Next year date: 2.5cc Stunt Competition, and possible combat practice, scheduled for Feb 17th. [j] PK to ask council to fix [ie cut] the grass on the fenceline. We could then maintain it with whipper-snippers. In lieu of this, maybe ALC should buy a brush-cutter? [k] Sec to invite Ipswich members to 2nd December, via John Taylor [274 Toohey Rd Tarragindi], and T'Birds members via Rob Edgerton. 16. Meeting Closed at 8.53 PM Date of Next Meeting: 13 November at Peter Wallace’s Place.
